Hi, I’m Raf.

Senior product designer. For 16 years I’ve helped startups turn early ideas into products people actually use.

Portrait of Raf

The short version

I studied advertising, with a minor in graphic design, and found I was more interested in building products than in advertising them. In 2010, almost by accident, I started designing remotely for startups and indie developers, years before remote work was normal.

I’ve been doing it ever since: UX/UI across SaaS, mobile and web, seven of those years on B2B platforms. I also work with clients through Toptal’s network of vetted freelancers.

Where I’m most useful

At the start. I love the early stage of a product, when the possibilities are wide open and the job is helping shape what it should become. Then seeing it take shape, screen by screen, until real people are using it.

What clients tell me they value

01

I treat your product like it’s mine

I take full ownership, from the first question to the last detail.

02

I reply quickly

I usually reply within 24 hours.

03

I respect deadlines

The dates we agree are the dates I work to.

04

I look at problems from different angles

Users, business goals, and what your team can actually build.

My own apps

Since 2015 I’ve designed 20+ iOS apps of my own with a developer partner, and in 2026 I started coding them myself. Running them keeps me close to what founders deal with after launch: App Store review, pricing, and the details no one plans for. See a few of them.

Away from the screen

I’ve lived all over the place, which is how I ended up working in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. These days I’m based in France, on Central European Time.

When I’m not designing, I’m surfing or sailing. Which may explain why some of my apps track buoys, tides and air pressure.
